State Representative Terry Canales announced today that he will seek re-election to the Texas House of Representatives for District 40, reaffirming his commitment to fighting for the Rio Grande Valley and ensuring South Texas has a strong voice in Austin.

Six of the eight lawmakers that represent the Rio Grande Valley in the Texas House of Representatives are Democrats. Five of the six have signed on to a letter urging U.S. Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz to vote against certain provisions in the 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act' (OBBBA).
